The Health Committee has finished examining the Review Report and will be presenting the recommendations to the Dail soon. Now is the time to let your TDs know that you want these recommendations implemented as soon as possible. We have drafted sample text that you can copy and paste into an email to send to your TDs. Be sure to address it to each of them individually. You can find the full list of their email addresses, separated by county, here.
Below is the sample text:
Dear [Name of TD],
I am writing as your constituent to urge you to support the recommendations of the Independent Review of the Operation of the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018
Some of these recommendations are: decriminalise abortion in all circumstances and extend on-request access throughout pregnancy, remove the three-day wait, maintain telemedicine for abortion care, and expand abortion services so that they are more accessible for people living in rural areas.
Abortion care should be free, safe, legal, local, and accessible for all who need it. We cannot continue to force people in Ireland to travel abroad to access abortion services. Yet, our restrictive legislation means that hundreds of pregnant people still travel every year.
I urge you to take action to ensure that these recommendations are implemented and that access to abortion is improved. You have the power and privilege to make a positive change for reproductive rights in Ireland.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
Sincerely,
