As the government debates legislation on the X Case and Youth Defence mobilise to prevent any change, the Pro-Choice Alliance Cork is calling on all supporters of a woman’s right to choose to come out on the streets.

There has been a sea change in attitudes to abortion in this country, as shown by the outcry over the tragic death of Savita Halapannavar. Yet the political establishment seem to want a narrow debate, focusing only on X Case legislation which may not even have saved Savita’s life and will still see thousands of women leave Irish shores every day to access abortion. We believe that supporters of the right to choose must make our voices heard to demand both the strongest possible legislation from the government but also fundamental change to allow free, safe and legal access to abortion in Ireland.
