This month, some people will have the opportunity to vote Pro Choice, with six members of the Seanad being elected by graduates of Irish colleges and universities. The Seanad panels for both ‘constituencies’ are listed here:

Almost seven years on from repeal, we still don’t have comprehensive abortion services. The rise of the far right and the roll back of reproductive rights around the world, means that now more than ever, we need to make sure our politicians will push forward with Marie O’Shea’s recommendations.
We need free, safe, legal, local, and accessible abortion services. The only way to achieve this is to vote pro choice. Most graduates do not use their Seanad vote. This might be your last chance for 4 years to vote pro-choice. If you are registered to vote in this Seanad election, use it!
What’s the role of Senators and the Seanad?
Senators can generate press for almost-forgotten issues, show support for civil society groups by championing their policies and propose amendments to legislation.
The main function of the Seanad is to debate legislation proposed by the Government. The Seanad can amend a Bill that has been passed by the Dáil and delay, but not stop, it becoming law. Senators can also introduce their own Bills, which are debated in the Seanad and, if passed, are then debated in the Dáil.
